For years and years, many have called for the Goonies to return. After the hit movie of 1985, there hasn’t been a time when people haven’t demanded a reboot, sequel or a restyling. And, guess what? It’s finally happened. Fans have got their wish. But just not in the way many will have hoped.
2018 was an excellent year for fans of the Goonies because it’s when Blueprint Gaming, a top software studio, launched their first instalment of a slot series delivering an authentic experience courtesy of the film. And now they’re back, to do it all over again, with the second release from the series.
We’re always keen to get behind this kind of stuff because it’s usually the case that everything from the original release that was good is kept. The naff stuff is dropped. And then a few new things are added into the mix. It’s the best way of doing things, because it also means the level of authenticity isn’t going to drop.
So, what can we expect to see carry over in terms of the original, which was a hit with punters? Well, again, this is going to be another branded slot. This means Blueprint Gaming will use everything available to them to deliver an authentic Goonies experience.
Players will also get a 5x3 reel set up with twenty paylines, which is standard in the industry. But, there are several improvements, such as the top prize being increased to a stunning 50,000x. And again, Blueprint Gaming go all out with the bonus features and modifiers. So, you can expect to see six of the former and seven of the latter. It's undoubtedly got everything that is needed to make The Goonies Return another smash hit, potentially paving the way for another release in the future.
The Goonies Return Feature Symbols
One of the best things about the original release by Blueprint Gaming is the design work, theming, and icons that appear on the reels. And, as you will expect, and have hoped, nothing changes in that respect here. It’s very much a case of sticking with what they know works, and while it’s not a carbon copy across the board, it’s still something players will really buy into once again.
Blueprint limit the royal icons involved on the reels to just four – J, Q, K and A. As you will expect, they’re in keeping with the theme, and the font is perfect. It’s the other symbols we’re here to see, though, such as One-Eyed Willy, the pirate flag, Data, Mikey, Mouth and Chunk. They’re the icons that are going to really bring back that authentic feel everyone is looking for.
The Goonies Return Bonus and Jackpots
In the first instalment of this series by Blueprint Gaming, we saw that they will go all out with features and modifiers. And, as we mentioned above, they keep what works, and we don't think anyone will complain at having seven One-Eyed Willy Modifiers, where multipliers, mystery symbols, guaranteed wins, and more all come into play.
Then, if all that wasn't enough, there are also six bonus features to go at. All six are loaded with different perks, such as free spins, streak respins, symbols upgrades, etc. What Blueprint Gaming does well here is to ensure that all the modifiers and features will be advantageous. It's more than just being able to show off because of how much is going on.
Play The Goonies Return at Gala Spins
It’s not usually the case where we suggest playing a different online slot to the one we’re reviewing, but what we will say is check out the original release in the series by Blueprint Gaming and then to spin the reels of The Goonies Return. While the latter is the better, as you will expect, it’s the chance to relive The Goonies in all its authentic glory.
